Places to check out in Seattle

Seattle is a city with a lot to offer from the world-famous Puget sound that is home to a diverse range of marine life, being the coffee capital, home to a couple iconic landmarks, to having that natural beauty the Pacific Northwest is known for. Here are a couple (touristy) spots I’d recommend checking out:

Pike Place Market

One of the country’s oldest farmers markets, Pike Place Market offers fresh produce, flowers, crafts, and more fun activities/views to look around. They have a whole bunch of amazing food stalls here! This is also where the iconic gum wall is located and if you don’t have a packet of gum on hand, the little cafe in that alley sells some (although it is a bit overpriced IMO but we respect the hustle). For you Starbucks addicts out there, the original Starbucks founded back in 1971 is located at this market.

As my friends say: all roads lead to Pike Place. #IKYK

The Space Needle

This iconic landmark offers breathtaking views of the city from 520 feet (160 meters) in the air. The entry line does tend to get long depending on the day/time, but it does move quickly. Thankfully the walkway that leads you to the elevator up the Space Needle is lined with historical information so you won’t get too bored! There is also a level with a rotating glass floor, so expect a bit of motion sickness if you have it.

Unfortunately their revolving restaurant closed back in 2017 as part of a historic renovation project.

Prices for Space Needle general admission:

Regular (ages 13-64)$32.25-$39
Senior (ages 65+)$28-$33
Youth (ages 5-12)$24-$29

Chihuly Garden and Glass

A museum showcasing the colorful glass art of renowned artist Dale Chihuly. It is located directly next to the Space Needle and you are able to purchase a combination ticket allowing you entry into the Space Needle + Chihuly Garden and Glass.

Prices for Space Needle + Chihuly Garden and Glass admission:

Regular (ages 13-64)$56.50-$61.50
Senior (ages 65+)$51.50-$56.50
Youth (ages 5-12)$41.50-$45.50

You can check out more booking information here to figure out what deal would be best suited for you.

Pioneer Square

The city’s oldest neighborhood offers a mix of history, art, and nightlife.

Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP)

Super cool museum that hosts the history of popular culture exhibits including music, video games, etc.

Tip: don’t let your friends take more edibles than they can handle.

Seattle Great Wheel

Located at Pier 57, take a ride on this waterfront Ferris wheel for a stunning view of the city.

Maybe don’t do it if you’re afraid of heights though.

Gas Works Park

A former oil plant site located right by the water turned into a fantastic spot to relax with friends. It offers a breathtaking view of the Seattle skyline. Last time I was here, my friends and I were lucky enough to run into a big group of people jamming out with their instruments and just dancing around having the time of their lives!

Discovery Park

This 534-acre park is the city’s largest and features beaches, hiking trails, and located right on the shore of Puget Sound. Great spot for taking a stroll, hiking, or cycling.

Fremont Troll

This is literally a sculpture of a troll under a bridge. That is all I have to say about this majestic piece of art.
