If you’re looking for a spot to hangout, study, work remote, or simply get your coffee fix then here are a few suggestions I have for cafes worth visiting in the incredibly hip city of Austin. Well… hangout, definitely. I’m not too sure about how your focus levels would be at some of the spots I have listed! But to each their own. ❤
Summer Moon
Address:
- Summer Moon Coffee Bar (original location) – 3115 S 1st St #1b, Austin, TX 78704
- Summer Moon Mobile Moon (in my featured image) – 6711 Menchaca Rd, Austin, TX 78745
One of my favorite coffee houses and a place I always need to stop by whenever I’m in town. Born and bred locally in Austin, Summer Moon is a family owned coffee house now spanning over two generations known for roasting their own Oak Roasted Coffee Beans in-house using the same old time-honored process of 19th century coffee masters.
Summer Moon is most popular for their oak roasted coffee and legendary sweet cream called Moon Milk.
They now have over 40 locations all over Texas and expanding into several neighboring states, but my favorite is their original location located on South First street that opened back in 2005. Check out their website for more locations.
Terrible Love
Address: 3908 Avenue B, Austin, TX 78751
The cutest little coffee shop that they somehow squeezed into an old horse trailer with just enough space for a total of one (1) barista! You could read all about their incredibly interesting back story here in Sprudge’s blog post.
Radio Coffee and Beer
Address: 4208 Menchaca Rd, Austin, TX 78704
Located in the same food truck park as the ever so popular Veracruz All Natural (known for their AMAZING breakfast tacos!) and Briscuits (barbecue and biscuits?!). Absolutely worth checking out this cafe, especially considering they are also home to a lovely brewery.
Mañana
Address: 1603 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704
Prime location right along South Congress. Pop on over to Mañana after checking out some cowboy boots and custom cowboy hats for a drink! They do also have ample space (including an outdoor patio) to hangout or get some work done. I tried their golden milk last time and the flavors were gorgeous.
Try Hard Coffee Roasters
Address: 1115 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702
Cute spot with specialty coffee, TACOS, pastries, and occasionally a DJ. Yes. A whole DJ with a booth and everything. Austin is just cool like that.
Spokesman
Address: 440 E St Elmo Rd A2, Austin, TX 78745
Artsy cafe that also sells wine and draft beer. In true St. Elmo spirit… this spot is a café by day, bar by night.
