I’ve definitely been eating out more this past year given my boyfriend enjoys trying new restaurants and I’ve been trying to explore new local spots. Here are 3 of my favorites from this month that I will definitely be coming back to:
SHOJI
- Address: 140 New Montgomery St #1, San Francisco, CA 94105
- Cafe Shoji: Monday-Sunday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
- Bar Shoji: Tuesday-Saturday, 5:00 pm- 12:00 am
- Price range: $$$
- What did we like: Tebasaki chicken wings, both affogatos, ceviche
- Could have gone without: sashimi platter
- Been going viral online so we went to Bar Shoji for my boyfriends birthday dinner, the tebasaki chicken wings were so goddamn fire. I feel like you can really rate a restaurant based on how they’re able to make such a simple and common dish stand out. Chef’s kiss bro. Some dishes like the cheese burger seemed to be set up more for a photo op or instagram video, likewise with the matcha/hojicha affogato but those were both pretty good. I plan on coming back sometime soon to try Cafe Shoji out!



GOOD GOOD CULTURE CLUB
- Address: 3560 18th St, San Francisco, CA 94110
- Monday – Friday, 5:00 – 9:30 pm
- Price range: $$$
- What did we like: crispy pig ears, fried smoked pork riblets, halo-halo (not authentic halo-halo, but still an interesting rendition!)
- Could have gone without: jewelry rice
- Stopped by primarily because I had to use my $100 Resy credit from my Amex Platinum, but the restaurant exceeded my expectations! The servers were all so lovely and our food came out pretty fast. The tamarind glaze on the pork riblets paired so well with the smokiness of it. Saw they also have a sister restaurant on Sutter called Liho-Liho which we now plan on checking out sometime soon.




TWELVEMONTH
- Address: 330 Lorton Ave, Burlingame, CA 94010
- Monday – Saturday, 11:30 am – 10:00 pm
- Sunday, 11:30 am – 9:00 pm
- Price range: $$
- What did we like: the vegan poke– like as far as vegan fish goes this may have been the most spot on vegan fish I’ve ever had
- Could have gone without: the lumpia, but mostly because I feel like I make it better
- Adorable ambiance and I’d say a very impressive plant-based restaurant. There’s a difference between food that is good, and food that is “good for being vegan.” This restaurant just has food that is good.
