Sample itinerary catered more towards those of you coming down from the SF Bay Area! Here’s an idea of how to make the most out of your day trip.
8:00 am – Start your day by driving to Monterey, which is approximately a 2 hour drive south from San Francisco.
10:00 am – Arrive in Monterey and head straight to Cannery Row, a historic waterfront street that is now a bustling tourist district. Take a stroll along the row and explore the unique shops, restaurants, and galleries.
11:00 am – Visit the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, which is located on Cannery Row. The aquarium features over 35,000 animals and plants, including sea otters, penguins, sharks, and jellyfish.
2:00 pm – Grab lunch at one of the many restaurants on Cannery Row, such as the Fish Hopper, which offers seafood and ocean views.
3:00 pm – Drive to 17-Mile Drive, a scenic road that winds along the coast and offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Pebble Beach. Take in the sights at several scenic stops along the way, such as the Lone Cypress and Spanish Bay.
5:00 pm – Head back to downtown Monterey and visit the historic Fisherman’s Wharf, which is filled with shops and seafood restaurants. Take a stroll along the wharf and learn about Monterey’s fishing history.
7:00 pm – Drive back to San Francisco, arriving just in time for a late dinner.
Adjust your itinerary to your liking, but this should definitely help to get you started especially if you haven’t previously visited Monterey.
