Travel Tip: How to Always Stay Connected

As someone who commonly travels while working my 9-5 corporate job as well as a full load masters student, I unfortunately almost always need to be connected which I’ve found easiest to do with the use of an eSIM despite my phone plan including international roaming services. I’ve encountered some instances in my travels where my roaming data was not as reliable as I had hoped for it to be ending up in me being a lost little soul. Since I can easily swap between my own carrier and the eSIM, these bad boys are complete GAME CHANGERS. I will never panic over not having strong enough reception to submit my homework whilst on a random beach in Mexico.

Why Choose an eSIM for Your Travels?

  1. NO NEED FOR HUMAN INTERACTION: Why line up at an airport kiosk for pocket wifi or a local sim when your anxious ass can just do it all from your phone?!
  2. Cost-Effective: we can’t be broke bitches AND be spending $12/day on international phone packages (assuming you don’t have it already added to your phone plan like me) — we are FRUGAL bitches that spend $20 for a 20GB plan to get us through the next 2 weeks.
  3. Multiple Plans: Carry multiple plans on one device and swap between carriers if you have to! If you’re extra and traveling through multiple countries, most eSIMs offer regional data packages to keep you covered.
  4. Environmentally Friendly: By going digital, you reduce the need for plastic SIM cards, contributing to a greener planet ❤ but also… less human interaction.

Trust me- with the amount of things I need connection for, 25GB was more than enough to get me through 3 weeks of Japan and Korea. It’s much more reliable especially since I relied on Google Maps/Translate or NAVER Map/Translate for my entire trip. Most eSIMs also offer the option to top up extra data as needed.

Here are my favorite eSIMs:

  1. Airalo
    • One of the most popular eSIMs on the market with coverage in over 200 countries
    • My Affiliate link:airalo.pxf.io/improbablykrys
    • Referral Code: KRYSTA8118
  2. Nomad
    • Coverage in over 170 countries
    • Typically cheaper than Airalo
    • Personally, I have never had a single issue with Nomad and my brother is quite loyal to Nomad however I’ve seen some reviews online where some people have had issues and attempted to get refunds without success
    • Referral Code: KRYSCCKTWZ for 25% off your first eSIM data plan
    • App link: https://getnomad.page.link/app

Feel free to take a look at https://cybernews.com/best-esim-providers/airalo-vs-nomad/ for a deeper dive into a comparison of both apps– highlighting the main comparison table CyberNews had created between the two:
